Educational Futures
Services – personal consultation
EDUCATIONAL FUTURES has found that some students and their parents are able to carry out the future planning process with only a little guidance and support as to how to proceed.
We believe that the student should control the planning and decision-making process as much as possible within the parameters established by the parents. Control is a function of the ability to make good decisions. Good decisions require good information and worthy options.
We are committed to turning over control of the planning and decision making process to the student as quickly as possible. To this end, we offer a one-time, two-hour consultation. If possible, both parents should be present.
The consultation includes a discussion of the student's educational and experiential background, an understanding of parental perspective and concerns and a review of the student's needs and objectives. Discussion of the importance of setting goals, time management and study habits is included. Suggestions for researching options, obtaining information, establishing priorities and developing a plan of action will be made. A written summary of the meeting will be provided.
The goal of the consultation is to provide the student and parents with a clear idea of where to obtain the information they will need in order to develop the options necessary for a good decision. A secondary goal of the consultation is to respond to the family's questions and concerns that relate to the student's status and plans.
If, as a result of the initial consultation, the family decides to proceed with the services of Educational Futures, the fee for this session will be credited against future charges.
